Welcome to St. Agnes
A message from the Pastor, Fr. George Williams, SJ:
We welcome you to join our community here at Saint Agnes! We are a welcoming, Jesuit-inspired, diverse Catholic community in the middle of the historic Haight-Ashbury district of San Francisco.
St. Agnes Church was founded in 1893. The jewel of a church you see today was completed in 1953. Jesuits assumed responsibility for the parish in 1994. The Ignatian tradition of a faith that does justice is an integral part of our ministry and practice.
St. Agnes Parish has a long history of service to the local community. We have a weekly food pantry that provides food to those in need on Thursday afternoons. We also have an active parish prison ministry at San Quentin State Prison.
We are committed to serving Jesus Christ and his Gospel through prayerful and engaging Liturgy and music, loving service to those in need, and to ongoing spiritual formation and growth of each member of our community.
