ABOUT CFF

Yes! We will be having Children's Faith Formation during the 2020-2021 School Year. Read on for more details on how our program is adjusting to meet the needs of families.
CFF is a wonderful opportunity for children and parents alike to experience the presence of God in their lives and come to a new and deeper understanding of our church community. Working as a family, we hope to help children grow in faith and familiarize themselves with the teachings and traditions of the Catholic Church by translating them into developmentally appropriate, interactive lessons. Come learn, pray, and grow with your Saint Agnes family!
Teens or adults interested in volunteering?  Please contact Hannah Everhart for more information.

Sessions

CFF at St. Agnes is designed to help the children grow in faith, identity and understanding of the Catholic Church. Sessions are held on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15 for children in grades K-8 in the Ignatian Spiritual Life Center as well as the St. Francis Room in St. Agnes Church. Sessions begin in late September and end in early May.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are structuring classes differently for the 2020-2021 school year.

Students are grouped into 2 cohorts that meet on alternating Sundays:
1) Meeting on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of the month .
  • Butterflies - These are generally Kindergarteners and 1st Graders who have not completed 1st Communion. Butterflies will meet in the St. Francis Room.*
  • Confirmation Year 1 and 2 -These are generally 7th and 8th graders Confirmation groups will meet in the ISLC.*
2) Meeting on 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month.
  • Doves - These are generally 3rd-6th graders who have completed the sacrament of 1st Communion. Doves will meet in the St. Francis Room.*
  • 1st Communion - Generally 2nd graders, but children of all ages are welcome to join. It is important to note that at least one parent or guardian must attend with children enrolled in this class. 1st Communion whole family catechesis meets in ISLC.*
*We will try to have classes meet in person when possible, however we will offer online classes when it is not possible or advisable to have children congregate together. For all in person classes, we will practice physical distancing and rigorous safety procedures including temperature/health screening and sanitization of the site and materials that students will use.

Sacraments

First Holy Communion and Reconciliation

The sacrament of First Holy Communion is the time where children first receive the Eucharist, the source and summit of our faith.  But first we prepare for Reconciliation where we learn more about growing close to Jesus, God's ever present love and forgiveness. Our program of preparation welcomes the whole family to become a part of the process. With the help of our catechists, parents are guided through a beautiful bonding experience with their child learning about their Catholic Faith.  As such,  there needs to be a consistent adult who can support the child's faith journey in order to participate in this program.

Children in 2nd Grade ordinarily sign up for First Reconciliation and First Communion, but older children are welcome to join if they have not completed the sacrament. The formation for this program lasts an entire school year (September-May) with sessions twice per month on Sundays from 9:15-10:15am. To join in our formation program starting in September 2020, register below.

Confirmation

The Sacrament of Confirmation is a crucial step in the faith journey of a young person. Our program is geared toward 7th and 8th graders, but all  middle and high schoolers are welcome. This program blends religious education, faith sharing, community service and spiritual development in a way that is personal and fosters strong ties between the Confirmation candidates.

The formation for Confirmation involves a two-year program with sessions twice per month on Sundays from 9:15-10:15am (September-May). To join in our formation program starting in September 2020, register below.
